The first round of Pennant was completed Sunday with some standout performances from RHGC players.
Division 1 (KBGC 1 1/2 – RHGC 5 1/2 at Kingston Beach)
Our Div 1 team had a tough assignment against the reigning Div 1 champions at their home course. Club Champion and State Representative Joey Bower led from the top of the order with a comprehensive win at #1 (5/4) over KBGC’s top player. Our top five recorded wins with Dan Marsh squaring his match and Alex Bigg suffering a narrow loss. The teams next match is on 27 March at home against TGC.

Division 2 (TGC 4 1/2 – RHGC 2 1/2 at Tasmania GC)
The Division 2 side going for a third title in a row suffered a setback at Tasmania GC going down to a very strong TGC side. The team welcomed new recruit Jono Deal who faced a difficult task of playing #1 in his first match for the club. Better days will come for him. The team welcomes back absent captain Justin Smith and team stalwart Alex Bigg for its next match at Huon Valley on 06 March.

Division 3 (RHGC 3 1/2 – TGC 3 1/2)
A milestone for RHGC Woman’s golf occurred in this match with the club represented in Open pennant by our Women’s State Representative, Hallie Meaburn. Playing at #1, Hallie recorded a convincing win (5/3). Rule changes introduced this year in Tasmanian inter-club golf allow clubs to be represented in scratch matchplay pennant (off back markers) by both male and female competitors. Hallie should be in demand by higher divisions as the season progresses! The team itself fought a close contest with the deciding match finishing in a square when Tobi Coates lost the last hole to a birdie. Next match for Div 3 is at TGC on 06 March.
